I bought this book because although I've loved browsing through Ottolenghi's delicious-sounding recipes before, I've never managed to be organised enough to actually go out and buy all of the ingredients and then take the time to make one. I decided that this book was my only chance.To clarify, not all of the recipes have 10 ingredients or fewer, and not all of the recipes take less than 30 minutes to make - Ottolenghi specifies six categories of simplicity and these are only two of them. The others can either be made ahead, involve only ingredients that you should already have in your cupboard at home, 'lazy' recipes which mean that the meal can be done in a single pot, or are 'easier than you think' recipes - those which sound complex, but aren't.I highly recommend this book as an introduction into the wonderful flavours of Ottolenghi's kitchen, but if you're looking for a book full of only 15-minute recipes made with the very simplest ingredients, I would probably start elsewhere.
Leider ein Fehlkauf für mich, die Rezepte sind überhaupt nicht simple. Ich finde das titel einfach irreführend. Man braucht Zutaten die man definitiv nicht in einer europäischen normalen Küche findet. Es tut mir leid aber ich bin sehr sehr enttäuscht.
Seriously, we've collected a number of these cook books but this is the best one: Yottam finally outdid himself and made his high-quality meals do-able on a weeknight with limited time. This is the recipe book you want to break out of the cycle of making the same old thing every night.
Wie gewohnt von Ottolenghi ein sehr schönes und aufgeräumtes Kochbuch. Die Waage zwischen einfachen, ausgefallenen und anspruchsvollen Rezepten ist mal wieder sehr gut gelungen. Das Design und die Bilder sind wie immer ansprechend und schlicht gewählt. Das Buch macht auch als Geschenk etwas her. Allgemein sind seine Kochbücher nur zu empfehlen und ein "must-have" für Liebhaber der Küche des mittleren Ostens. Die Lieferung erfolgte schnell und problemlos.
Bis jetzt mein Lieblingsbuch von Ottolenghi! SIMPLE macht es mir einfach, auch wenn ich ab und zu die englischen Begriffe nachschlagen muss.
I am a big Ottolenghi fan so I was looking forward to this book. The format seemed interesting but in reality confusingly implemented. The premise is to classify recipes by type beginners, store cupboard, quick and easy etc. However instead of organising them this way in chapters the recipes are grouped under other titles like grains, dairy etc. Within each chapter the recipes might be classified as quick and beginner and store cupboard so all in all a bit confusing. The food is OK typical Ottolenghi quite long ingredients lists but OK if you like to cook. Compared to his other early books like Plenty or even his 1st book this is only 3 stars.
Als Freund mediterraner Küche ist das neue Ottolenghi-Buch für mich ein Muss gewesen, schon Rezepte ausprobiert,lecker....
Thé pictures are all yummy. I’m inspired by a lot of recipes. I like that it is, indeed, simple and that there are a lot of recipes with vegetables. There are mouthfuls of flavors, the tone is nice, the recipes are well written.
